Mitchell Republic completes move to new office space at Fourth and Rowley

Oct. 27—MITCHELL — The Mitchell Republic moved into its new offices this week, but isn't moving far away.

The newspaper's physical offices are now located at 400 N. Rowley St. Customers can enter the offices using the south door and can utilize Fourth Avenue's on-street parking to access the building.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 31, the Mitchell Republic's offices will be open to customers Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The newspaper's staff is also available by appointment by calling 605-996-5514.

The Mitchell Republic is sharing space with the building's owner, On Sight 24/7, a Mitchell-based security system company. On Sight 24/7 Owner Brian Price worked with the Mitchell Republic to renovate the building to fit the newspaper's needs for offices and warehouse space.

"We're really excited to be working with Brian again, who purchased our previous building," Mitchell Republic Publisher Joni Harms said. "We're sharing the building with On Sight and Brian was accommodating about building the office space to suit our needs."

Price purchased the Mitchell Republic's longtime building at 120 S. Lawler St. from the newspaper's parent company Forum Communications in 2019. Price sold the newspaper's former Lawler Street building earlier this year to Helmut, a cabinetry company based in Sioux Falls that has a factory and showroom space in Alexandria.

Harms said the Mitchell Republic's new location will fit the media company's needs well. She said the Mitchell Republic's office lease was scheduled to run through mid-2024 but the business wanted to be proactive about finding a location that made sense for the future.

"Even though we moved off Main Street, we still are in the center of what is happening in Mitchell in so many ways," Harms said. "That is important to our physical business and in how we approach our role serving the community."

Since 2019, the Mitchell Republic leased office space from the Mitchell Area Development Corporation. Earlier this year, the MADC agreed to sell the building at 514 N. Main St. to Jason and Jen Bradley, who own the Scoreboard Pub and Grille next door. The Bradleys plan to use the building to expand their restaurant space.

"We appreciate the Bradleys for working with us in recent months, and we wish them the best," Harms said. "We're excited to see what they build and create to enhance our community's Main Street."
