Feb. 15—LIMA — Mitchell Tenpenny is an ascending artist in the world of country music, and at 7:30 p.m. Friday, he will take his songs to the Veterans Memorial Civic Center stage.

"This tour has been so much fun," Tenpenny said. "We haven't ever played in this area so I'm excited to play somewhere different than we normally would. It's always fun to hear and see what each city brings. Every crowd is unique."

For fans of the award-nominated singer, Tenpenny promised that the audience would be satisfied with the show.

"We're going to have a lot of energy," he said. "It's going to be a party. There will be a whole new set, all new lights, all new production, with the new songs and of course all the older stuff that people might know. But it's just a whole new energy and a whole new tour. It's brand new so I can't wait."

For anyone who might not be familiar with Tenpenny, the "Love & Rock N' Roll" artist said that he will try to deliver on more than just the country genre.

"As far as country music goes, we know that's where we base everything out of our lyrics for sure," he said. "But we like to rock it up. We just like to have a lot of fun. So if you want to come out for a great show, come on in. It'll be a great way to spend your evening."

As for what fans might find if they check out Tenpenny's recent exploits, a few new songs might pop up, such as a few Chris Young collaborations and new single "We Got History".

"We have two songs out and one that went to number one, 'At the End of a Bar' with Chris Young and 'Truth About You'," Tenpenny said. "And then our first number one song 'Drunk Me' got it started a few years ago, so there will be a few songs you've probably heard on the radio and we're working on the next one right now."

If you do see Tenpenny's show, he hopes that you will leave with some authentic good feelings.

"Just have a lot of fun and escape from the real world for a little bit," he said. "I think our music and our lyrics relate to a lot of what people are going through and just everyday life and I think they can take away some common ground in our music for what we're living through right now."

Fans can check out Tenpenny and songs from his new album, "This is the Heavy", on his social media pages, including Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok.
