Mitchell White can't slow down Brandon Valley in doubleheader sweep

Jul. 20—The Mitchell White teener baseball was swept by Brandon Valley Lynx on Monday.

Mitchell was defeated 8-3 in Game 1 and 11-0 in Game 2.

In Game 1, Brandon Valley got off to a quick start scoring six runs in the bottom of the first. Mitchell broke through on Brennen Penne's ground out RBI at the top of the fifth that brought Jaxson Hartman home to finally get on the scoreboard. Mitchell followed that up with a two-run single by Kendan Skinner and cut game to three.

Brandon Valley would go on to score two runs over the next two innings to pull away.

Carter McCormick and Gavin Jones chipped in with one hit each. Jaxson Hartman pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs and four hits, but struck out three. Jones pitched one inning and allowed one run.

In Game 2, Van Johnson and Penne each had one hit in the 11-0 loss.

Quinton Wilson took the loss as he pitched 2 1/3 innings. He struck out two, but allowed seven hits and seven runs.
