Mitchell's Parker Denne helps Team South Dakota reach 14U national hockey quarterfinals

May 4—DALLAS, Texas — South Dakota's 14U hockey team reached the quarterfinals of the USA Hockey Tier II 14U National Tournament on April 29-May 3. Team South Dakota lost to the Alaska Stars, 6-2, in the quarterfinals.

Mitchell's Parker Denne was among 12 skaters from 11 different South Dakota communities that played in the event. Team South Dakota played more than two dozen games to qualify for the national tournament.

In the opening round in Dallas, South Dakota picked up a 7-2 win over the Nashville Flyers. Denne recorded an assist victory.

South Dakota earned a 7-2 victory over the Arizona Junior Coyotes in the second round. Denne scored a goal during South Dakota's three-goal first period.

South Dakota finished pool play with a 6-1 win over Ashburn (Virginia) Xtreme on May 1. Denne was one of six different players to score for Team South Dakota in the win.
