Mito Pereira did something no golfer had done in the past two Memorial Tournaments during the final round on Sunday.

The Chilean golfer, who entered the round tied for 35th after a hitting 12 of 14 fairways in the third round, had this year's first double eagle.

Pereira used a 3-wood to become the second golfer to hit a double eagle at the Memorial Tournament on Muirfield Village's No. 7 hole. He was the first player to double eagle a hole at the tournament since 2019, when Shubhankar Sharma had a double eagle or "albatross," during the second round.

The last golfer to double eagle the par 5 No. 7 hole at the Memorial Tournament was Carlos Franco.

Reactions after Mito Pereira has 'albatross' at Memorial Tournament

Who is Mito Pereira?

Pereira is a 27-year-old golfer from Chile. He is ranked 45th in the world. Pereira played golf at Texas Tech University and turned pro in 2015.

Pereira finished tied for third at the PGA Championship last month, but has not won on tour.

Why is a double eagle called an albatross

A birdie is when a golfer shoots 1-under on a hole. An eagle is 2-under for a hole. But a double eagle is when a golfer shoots 3-under par on a hole. Traditionalist often call this an albatross rather than a double eagle.
