The 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander is all-new for its fourth generation.
It competes with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, yet it has a third row of seats.
Prices start at $25,795 and the cars will be available in April.
As Mitsubishi's flagship SUV, the 2022 Outlander is all-new for its fourth generation.
Unveiled on Tuesday, the new Outlander has been completely redesigned, but a few things remain familiar. Namely, it still has a reasonable starting price of $25,795 - slightly more than the outgoing model's $24,895 baseline - and it maintains the three-row, seven-seat layout from the previous generation.
But it looks far truckier and more aggressive than the Outlander of old, and it's the result of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. The engine and platform are the same ones that you find in the new Nissan Rogue, according to Car and Driver.
Size-wise, the Outlander competes against the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, which buyers routinely flock to. But neither of those cars offer a third row. Chew on that.

The 2022 Outlander is all-new for its fourth generation of Mitsubishi's flagship SUV.
Immediately, you can tell the design is far more aggressive and truck-like than the outgoing Outlander's.
As a comparison, here's the 2020 Outlander. See the difference?
Anyway, Mitsubishi first launched the Outlander in the North American market in 2002.
The new front facia is called Dynamic Shield.
Big, 20-inch wheels are an available option.
It looks quite premium inside.
There's quilted leather and contrast stitching and everything!
There's a nine-inch center screen.
And a 12.3-inch digital driver information cluster.
The interior materials look varied and interesting.
There's bench-seating for three in the second row.
Looks pretty roomy!
Though the Outlander is sized to compete with the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, it has one big advantage.
And that advantage is the third row.
The two seats back there do look a bit tight.
They do fold down, though, to increase trunk space.
The 2022 Outlander is also all-new underneath its body panels.
It uses the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and platform found in the Nissan Rogue.
