President Donald Trump's impeachment hearing has been full of twists and turns and unexpected moments. But one moment that has many people scratching their heads is when Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) was reportedly knocked for drinking a bottle of chocolate milk on the Senate floor.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Romney was drinking a bottle of chocolate milk when a Senate staffer went up to him and seemed "gently to chide him." He went into the cloakroom and then came back out with the chocolate milk in a glass.

You might be wondering why it would matter that Romney had milk in a bottle or a glass, and that's because according to the official Senate rules, senators are only allowed to have still or sparkling water in glasses on the floor during an impeachment trial. But, "anecdotal evidence" points to senators drinking other beverages, including milk, even during this current hearing. They still, apparently, should be in glasses though.

A screenshot of Senate procedure posted on Twitter by Josh Billinson of BuzzFeed clarified that Senate rules do not specifically prohibit milk.

Romney is a big fan of the specific brand of bottled chocolate milk he was seen sipping from: It's made at the campus creamery at his alma mater Brigham Young University. He was also seen drinking chocolate milk during his 2012 presidential run, as seen in the photo above.

In addition to water and apparently milk, the senators are also allowed to have "desk candy" which is currently stashed in Sen. Patrick Toomey's (R-PA) desk. As he is from Pennsylvania, home to Hershey's and other delicious snack makers, it's currently being re-stocked often with treats like Kellogg’s cereal and Eat N’Park cookies, according to Erie News Now. Just a side note, if you've never had an Eat N'Park cookie, you're missing out!

The Wall Street Journal also reported that Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) was seen eating Sour Patch Kids during the trial at the same time Romney was seen with his bottle of milk. It's not clear if that came from the desk candy stash.
