Traffic along a patch of South Dixie Highway from Monroe Drive south to Southern Boulevard came to a halt Saturday while the street was taken over by a soirée on West Palm Beach's trendy Antique Row.

The annual Evening on Antique Row block party, hosted by The Young Friends of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County, took place from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The stylish street party shines a light on one of the coolest areas in the city and is considered a fashionable affair.

Set smack dab in the middle of the new foodie hot spot in West Palm Beach — the "Dixie Corridor" — the event featured offerings from dozens of local restaurants including Howley's, Aioli, The SoSo, Palm Beach Meats, Tropical Smokehouse, Don Ramón Cuban Cuisine, Sushi Jo, Celis, Lynora's, Yolk, 123 Datura, Vinyl Fish Club, Sarah's Slow Jam, Apricot & Olive, Joseph's Classic Market, Grato, Guaca Go and Revenge Rum.

Spotted in the crowd was U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, and his wife Ann Romney.

Though Saturday's event was definitely a party, it was a party with a purpose. It benefits the education programs of the Historical Society of Palm Beach County, a nonprofit organization that collects, preserves and shares our countywide history. It operates the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum in West Palm Beach's 1916 Courthouse.
