How Mizzou basketball roster is shaping up as Ronnie DeGray enters transfer portal
Missouri basketball has another open roster spot. Ronnie DeGray III announced Thursday evening in a social media post that he is entering the transfer portal in search of a new home for the 2023-24 season.
DeGray joins Mohamed Diarra as Tigers who have entered the portal so far. He spent two seasons with the Tigers after transferring from Massachusetts.
“A special thanks to all the brothers I made here at Mizzou and please know that everyone is considered family to me,” DeGray said in the post. “As much as you wish things would work out, it doesn’t always happen. But it’s okay when you have God walking with you every step of the way.”
DeGray was one of just three players to remain with Missouri after Dennis Gates took over as head coach, joining Kobe and Kaleb Brown. He played significantly reduced minutes this past season, just 9.9 per game after averaging 25.4 during the 2021-22 campaign.
He thanked former head coach Cuonzo Martin, along with former assistant Cornell Mann, in the post.
“Thank you for welcoming a kid from Parker, Colorado with open arms for the last two years,” DeGray said. “I got to live out one of my dreams of playing at the highest level and to top it off, be a part of March Madness. I want to thank coach Martin and coach Corn for recruiting me to Mizzou and all the other coaches who had a part in coaching me during my time here.”
DeGray missed the end of Missouri’s season due to a knee injury. He averaged 2.1 points and 1.8 rebounds last season.
During his first season in Columbia, DeGray averaged 8.3 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining wherever he ends up.

Missouri had its first transfer portal commitment on Monday, when John Tonje of Colorado State made his announcement. The Tigers are likely to see more entries and departures through the transfer portal, which opened March 13 and will close on May 11.
DeGray will become Missouri’s sixth departure following the 2022-23 season, which ended with a second-round loss to Princeton in the NCAA Tournament. Diarra announced his transfer and D’Moi Hodge, Tre Gomillion, DeAndre Gholston and Ben Sternberg ran out of eligibility.
