Moberly man suffers serious injuries after falling asleep, crashing

Dec. 13—A 61-year-old man was seriously injured Wednesday after falling asleep behind the wheel and crashing, his vehicle ending up upside down in a creek, according to the highway patrol.

Steven Green, of Moberly, Missouri, was southbound in a 1997 Mercury Sable on U.S. Route 169 when he fell asleep, crossed the center line and struck the towed unit of a 1995 Peterbilt traveling north, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol crash reports.

The Sable then traveled off the roadway, struck a fence and came to rest on its top in a creek.

Green was taken to Mosaic Life Care for serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to crash reports.

The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured.
