Mock trade has Sixers acquiring reserve Kenrich Williams from Thunder

The Philadelphia 76ers are in the middle of trying to get everything together and push themselves forward in the 2022 offseason and properly contend in the 2022-23 season. While they have some issues that need to be addressed, the biggest one will be taking care of a bench unit that has struggled in a lot of different moments.

The team does need some wing depth, but another issue is rebounding. The Sixers struggled in that department in some games and they could go with some help there for their bench unit which should be the focus at this point with the starting lineup being as strong as it is.

A mock trade from The Rights to Ricky Sanchez has the Sixers acquiring Kenrich Williams from the Oklahoma City Thunder who can provide some offense and some physical play.

Isaiah Joe, Paul Reed or Charles Bassey for… Kenrich Williams

The Rights to Ricky Sanchez on why the Sixers do this deal

As a bonus, here’s one fun idea: Williams, one of what feels like dozens of young role players on the Oklahoma City Thunder, would be a welcomed addition to this team, thanks in large part to his rebounding. We saw the Sixers struggle on the glass all season, and Williams would be a major help in that department.

Williams also has some passing chops, much more than what you would expect from a forward of his size. His shooting remains a work in progress, but he and Georges Niang tag-teaming backup power forward minutes could be a productive development.

Analyzing the deal from a Sixers standpoint

Williams averaged 7.4 points and 4.5 rebounds in 49 games for the Thunder off the bench in the 2021-22 season. He shot 46.1% from the floor and he shot 33.9% from deep as well. He did shoot 44.4% from deep in the 2020-21 season before the drop-off in percentage, but the physical play he brings both on the glass and on the defensive end would be a very good addition to the Sixers. They need more physical play and going after a guy like Williams wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
