MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Xometry in Bethesda is an industrial parts marketplace which has helped to create medical devices, tools for airports, and more.

“When you think about Maryland, you don’t think about manufacturing. You know, you think about the Midwest or other states or other regions of the country, not Maryland,” said Randy Altschuler, CEO of Xometry.

Altschuler said improving the region’s public transportation options will be critical for helping Maryland when it comes to tech and the future of tech in the state.

“We help thousands of small American manufacturers across the United States build their businesses,” said Altshuler. “We have 600,000 manufacturers. United States, the majority of them have less than 20 employees. And right here in Maryland, there is a thriving manufacturing base. And it’s also very similar small, medium-sized businesses that are kind of the bedrocks of our community.”
