Modern Family cast reunite - and pay tribute to a missing member

Modern Family's entire cast have reunited for the first time since the show ended – well, almost everyone.
The US sitcom came to an end back in 2020 after 11 seasons and although the cast have remained close, they haven't all been together since they finished filming.
Sofía Vergara, who played Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the show, posted a wealth of photos on her Instagram to celebrate the long-awaited reunion.
"So lucky to have worked with these people for 11 years," she captioned one of the posts. "I love and miss you all guys!!!"

Also at the reunion were cast members Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Mitchell Pritchett), Eric Stonestreet (Cam Tucker), Ed O'Neill (Jay Pritchett), Julie Bowen (Claire Dunphy), Sarah Hyland (Haley Dunphy), Ariel Winter (Alex Dunphy), Nolan Gould (Luke Dunphy), Rico Rodriguez (Manny Delgado) and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons (Lily Tucker-Pritchett), alongside Steve Levitan, the co-creator of Modern Family.
However, Ty Burell, who played dad Phil Dunphy, was not present, and the cast marked his absence in a fun and rather macabre way, by putting his photo up on the mantlepiece in tribute.
They also held up Burrell’s picture in a group photo that was taken, with Vergara captioning the post "First Modern Family reunion!!!!" – leading to concern from fans who got the wrong end of the stick.
"Had to Google and check that Phil was still alive…" said one fan in the comments section.

Levitan posted a similar photo on Instagram, writing: "It was so nice to see this group after so long. It's been three and a half years since we shot the last show, but we'll always be family."
This might be the biggest Modern Family reunion of late, but it isn't the only recent meet-up, as Ferguson went to watch on-screen daughter Anderson-Emmons in her high school production, and also caught up with Vergara and Bowen, sharing sweet photos on both occasions.
Modern Family is streaming on Disney+ in the UK and Hulu in the US.
