Actor Jeremy Renner, born and raised in Modesto, is in critical but stable condition after a snowplow accident Sunday, news services including The Hollywood Reporter, Variety and TMZ are reporting.

TMZ.com reports that Renner was plowing the road about a quarter mile from his Nevada home so his family could get out after a massive New Year’s eve storm.

A neighbor told the news outlet that a Snowcat plow ran over one of Renner’s legs and he was losing a lot of blood. Another neighbor, a doctor, was able to put a tourniquet on his leg until paramedics arrived, TMZ reports.

“A source close to Jeremy tells us his injuries are ‘extensive’ — along with his leg, other parts of his body have been injured,” the TMZ article states.

A spokesperson for the “Hawkeye” and “Mayor of Kingstown” star issued a statement that “his family is with him, and he is receiving excellent care.”

Deadline reported that the two-time Academy Award nominee — for his lead performance in “The Hurt Locker” and supporting role in “The Town” — was airlifted to a hospital. It also reported that according to the Reno Gazette-Journal, Renner has a home in the area, near Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe.

The New York Daily News reports that emergency officials responded Sunday to Renner’s home near Mount Rose Highway and arranged for him to be taken to a nearby hospital by care flight. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office described the injury as “traumatic,” according to the Daily News article.

“Mr. Renner was the only involved party,” a sheriff’s office representative said in the article. “The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is currently looking into the circumstances of the incident.”

Washoe County is about 125 miles north of Reno.

Renner — a Beyer High grad and one-time Modesto Junior College theater student — is days away from turning 52 on Jan. 7.

The actor previously broke both arms while performing a stunt for the 2018 comedy movie “Tag.”
