PLAIN TWP. – Moe's Southwest Grill at 5440 Whipple Ave. has closed.

It's the latest closing for the restaurant chain, which focuses on Mexican and southwestern food. The Cuyahoga Falls and Akron restaurants, as well as seven in Indiana, have closed within the past year.

Founded in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, Moe’s (which stands for Musicians, Outlaws and Entertainers) was based on a franchisee model of growth.

The company said the Stark County location was closed because of a decision made by its franchisee who has no plans to reopen at this time.

The Plain Township restaurant opened in August 2017.

Moe's has more than 600 locations throughout the U.S., including nine restaurants in Ohio, according to its website. Its menu features burritos, quesadillas and nachos. Free chips and salsa come with every order.
