Moldova has extended temporary protection for displaced persons from Ukraine until March 1, 2025, the General Inspectorate for Migration reported on Feb. 29.

According to the new document, displaced persons from Ukraine who were granted temporary protection before March 1, 2024, will automatically have their identity documents extended until March 1, 2025. Ukrainians do not need to come to the offices of the General Inspectorate.

This extension serves as a demonstration of Moldova’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people, said the agency.

The Lithuanian government allocated earlier an additional 326,000 euros ($353,614) to support refugees from Ukraine.

The European Union extended on Oct. 19, 2023 temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees until March 2025.
