Moldova seeks to build up its air defenses
On several occasions, Russian cruise missiles violated Moldovan airspace on their way towards targets in Ukraine.

“We can see (Russian) attacks targeting (Ukrainian) energy infrastructure, residential areas, office buildings, killing hundreds of people,” said Grosu.
“Three Russian missiles violated Moldovan airspace, presenting a danger to civilian aviation. It’s a brazen violation of Moldova’s sovereignty and neutrality, by the Russian army.”
According to the official, Moldova will formulate an appropriate response, despite its neutrality in the Russian war with Ukraine.

“Being neutral, you tend to pay extra attention to this sort of thing,” he added.

“In particular, we can rely on our partners helping us to bolster our capabilities in that regard. Modernizing our army is one of our priorities.”
Russia has maintained an illegitimate military presence in Moldova’s Transnistria ever since the break-up of the Soviet Union, stoking separatist sentiment in the region.
