New Moline assistant superintendent hired
The Moline-Coal Valley School District Board of Education has hired Erin Terstriep as assistant superintendent for student services and special education for the 2024-2025 school year.
She is currently serving as director of special education services at United Township High School District 30 in East Moline. She will succeed Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel and Special Services, Kristin Sanders, who will retire in June with 27 years of service to the district.
Terstriep has extensive teaching and administrative experience in the field of special education, according to a school district release, noting she began her career as a special education teacher in St. Louis.
Terstriep brings to her new position 17 years of leadership experience — having served as director/administrative building leader for United Township’s alternative school, dean of students, and director of special education services for United Township High School District 30.
She earned a master’s degree in special education from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., a master’s degree in general administration from Western Illinois University in Macomb, and a bachelor’s in psychology from Truman State University.
“Erin is a student-centered positive and approachable leader whose experiences will serve our district students and staff well,” Moline-Coal Valley Superintendent Rachel Savage said in the release.
“She is knowledgeable, compassionate, and respected among her peers. We are grateful to have her join our team and look forward to welcoming her this fall,” Savage said.
“I am thrilled to accept the position and work alongside the dedicated educators of the Moline-Coal Valley School District,” Terstriep said. “It is truly an honor to join such a committed team and contribute to the ongoing academic success and well-being of the students in our great community.”
