Molly Hatchet to perform at Capitol Theatre in downtown Macon. Here’s how to get tickets

Macon is often considered the birthplace of Southern rock, headquarters of Capricorn Records and the slew of bands that developed and expanded the sound from The Allman Brothers Band to The Marshall Tucker Band.

One of the most iconic bands to take that sound and make it their own is Molly Hatchet, the Jacksonville, Florida band that sprinkled blues, country and hard-rock boogie into the Southern rock mix.

Their 1978 Epic Records self-titled release went multi-platinum and led to road gigs with Aerosmith, Bob Seger and The Rolling Stones, among others.

Still rocking more than 40 years later, Hatchet is bringing that sound to Macon’s Capitol Theatre, with the show starting at 8 p.m. Oct. 20.

Tickets, which start at $40-plus taxes and fees, go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. online through See Tickets. You can also purchase tickets at The Rookery restaurant in downtown Macon (543 Cherry St.) during business hours.

The current iteration of the band includes Bobby Ingram on lead guitar and John Galvin on keyboards, both of whom joined the band in the 1980s. Tim Lindsey is on bass guitar, Shawn Beamer on drums and Jimmy Elkins on vocals.

“Molly Hatchet continues to honor the legacies of those members who passed away (including Danny Joe Brown, David Hlubek, and Phil McCormack) by keeping the music alive, performing across the United States, and throughout the world,” a release from Capitol Theatre read.
