A Mom Was Accused Of Using A Fake Baby To Shoplift Yogurt
A mom took her 8-week-old baby to Aldi to pick up groceries and shared her experience in a now-viral Facebook post.
Another shopper accused Patricia Larkin of using a fake baby to steal yogurt at Aldi.
Larkin laughed about the incident with the cashier.
A mom was accused of using a fake baby to steal yogurt from an Aldi, and now her Facebook post about the experience is going viral.
Patricia Larkin posted a photo of herself carrying her 8-week-old baby in Aldi on the Lacey Township Chatter Facebook page. She wrote: "Well, I don’t usually do 'To the person who…' posts, but this one has me cracking up, so here we go. To the lady who told the cashier at Aldi that she thought I had a fake baby and was trying to smuggle yogurts out of the store 1) My baby is 100% real. 2 Yogurts are like $.25 at Aldi. 3. I’m lactose intolerant and don’t consume any dairy at all. Thank you for the laugh, though. I really needed it because I was up all night tending to my (again, 100% real) baby. 🤣🤣🤣🤣."
At the store, Larkin was stocking up on yogurt and noticed a woman watching her. "I was wearing my 8-week-old daughter in a carrier and she made a comment like, 'Mom life, huh?'" Larkin told Today. "I smiled. I didn't think anything of it."
As for the shoplifting accusation, "I thought it was a straight-up joke," Larkin told Women's Health. "I didn't think that anybody would actually mistake my baby for a doll." She added that she and the cashier laughed about it afterward.
"It was clear that she was in fact serious," Larkin continued. Her accuser, a woman named Aileen Krupa, saw the Facebook post and responded, "It was me and I am not ashamed to say so. The baby was sleeping the entire time and was like a dead weight in her arms." Krupa added that she works in retail where shoplifters often use children, so it seemed like suspicious activity.
Since Larkin wrote the now-viral Facebook post, it has received more than 1,400 reactions, 367 comments, and has been shared more than 100 times.
