A mom’s guide to last-minute Mother’s Day shopping in Sacramento: Brunch or massage? Both

Is it last minute? Maybe. Does the mama in your life need to know that? No.

The Sacramento area is filled with Mother’s Day opportunities, and you have plenty of time to make her feel special. Let’s face it, after this last year, Mom deserves some spoiling. Especially if she’s got kids in school or even younger. The past year has been beyond challenging.

Let’s start with a classic: brunch. Maybe it’s a myth and all moms don’t like brunch, but this mom sure does.

Revolution Winery & Kitchen is ready to take your brunch reservations. Takeout and delivery are still available, but the patio and indoor dining areas are also open. Maybe it’s time to treat Mom to some fresh air, huevos rancheros, and pink grapefruit mimosas. Wrap up the day with a wine subscription for mom. Again, not all moms like wine. But this one does. Three bottles of red, quarterly, please. You can find more at rev.wine.

C. Knight’s Steakhouse is taking reservations for brunch, dinner, or even just cocktails. A little surf and turf, butter-whipped potatoes and a cocktail with house-infused spirits? Don’t mind if I do. They are ready to spoil the mothers, and I say let them. They’re taking reservations by phone or online at cknightssteakhouse.com.

Matteo’s Pizza and Bistro has worked up a tasty Mother’s Day brunch as well. I can’t decide if I should have crab and asparagus benedict or french toast. They are taking reservations, and takeout is available. Guess what else they have? Wine. One of the featured wines this week is a Lucy Rosé, and $1 from every bottle purchased is donated to breast cancer research. Do you know what else I’ve never said a day in my life? “I don’t really feel like eating pizza today.” You can see the specials at pizzamatteo.com.

In other beverage-related news, K and K Chai plans to spoil all the special women this weekend, mother or not. You can find them at the Farmer’s Market in Folsom on Saturday where they will be handing out free cups of tea from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. to moms, grandmas, aunts, fur mamas, mother figures and any other special women. They have a wide variety of teas to brew at home, and some gorgeous tea accessories as well. The original chai is a customer favorite, and probably a nice starting point if you aren’t sure what direction to go. Find out more about them at kandkchai.com.

If you need a place to one-stop shop for unique things, head over to the Warehouse Creative. This Old Sacramento boutique is filled with wares from local makers. Clothing, jewelry, crystals, pottery, artwork, candles, and home decor — there is a little bit of everything, all handmade. Mom’s heart will burst at the gorgeous things you have brought her while also supporting local craftspeople. The suncatcher air plant hangers? Yes, please. There’s more information at warehousecreativesac.com.

Another exciting opportunity this year that has been absent from Mom’s calendar is the world of spa services. I’m pretty sure Mom would be thrilled to open that lovely greeting card and find a gift card to one of these awesome places.

Bohemian Aesthetic Atelier offers permanent makeup, lashes, and brows. Save Mom time every morning with brow microblading or lash extensions. They also offer lip blushing to enhance natural lip color, and sun-kissed looking freckles without the UV exposure. Complimentary consultations will ensure Mom is able to choose something that best fits her. I’d like to try the ombre and powder brow. They also carry self-care essentials that will give her a moment of peace in all the chaos. You can find out more at bohemianaesthetic.com.

I guarantee with all the mask-wearing this past year, a gift card for a facial would also be a hit. Beauty X Davonna in Fair Oaks offers some amazing facial options. They have a special this month for Mom, in which adding a luxury lash lift to your facial is $25 off. I think the oxygen infused detoxification facial is calling my name. You can see all of the options and learn more at beautyxdavonna.com.

Fabness in Roseville specializes in luxury nail services. They offer gel nails, sculpted nails, and nail art. I am all for some creative nail art, and so are they. They have everything from 3D bling nails to tattoo art. Check out their instagram page for some inspiration, and get that appointment booked.

Spa pedicures might be my favorite, and Nails by Yen in Granite Bay has got some spa pedicure options that speak to my soul. A red wine spa pedicure treatment? Twist my arm. I knew red wine was good for me. There’s also a luxury coffee spa pedicure. Not only are you getting a good coffee grounds and honey scrub, but you start off with a traditional Vietnamese coffee, either hot or cold. Honestly, I don’t know how they will get me out of there, because this sounds delicious in every way. You can check out more options at nailsbyyen2020.com.

Sacred Soul Massage Therapy in Roseville is ready to help Mom relax and decompress. They offer a variety of massages, cupping, and body wraps. Extras like sugar scrubs and hydrating hand treatments are free of charge. With a variety of packages available, I’m not sure how your mom will decide. I will take the Luxe, please, which includes full body massage, hand treatment, scalp treatment, hot stone massage on the back, hot towels, warm eye pillow, calming essential oils, sparkling water and a snack. Check out all the options and purchase gift cards at sacredsoulmassage.com.

No matter what direction you choose to go for Mom’s big day, you can’t go wrong supporting local businesses.
