Mom who said child waxed women faces court date

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis mother who allegedly let her 5-year-old daughter wax nude clients was in court Wednesday.

Jasmine Moss is charged with misdemeanor child abuse and child neglect after she wrote on social media last month that her young daughter had waxed 24 women and earned over $700.

Her attorney, Blake Ballin, said he still has not seen the post made by Moss on her social media page. However, he argues that there is no proof of physical harm to the child.

“Again, this is one of those strange cases where I don’t think the facts are going to be in dispute. The question is, did she violate the law she’s been charged with?” Ballin said. “That law requires some kind of harm to the child. Usually we talk about physical harm and there’s simply no physical harm here to this child.”

Wednesday’s court hearing ended up being delayed as the prosecutor for this case is getting back from maternity leave.

We have learned the 5-year-old is still at home. Ballin said he is not aware of any proceedings by the Department of Children’s Services, and did not know whether there is an investigation.

There’s no word on whether Moss’s business is still up and running.
