Sep. 11—An Odessa man and his mom were arrested on felony drug charges last week thanks to a tip and subsequent investigation.
According to an Odessa Police Department report, detectives received a tip Joseph Nava was selling fentanyl-laced pills and he agreed to sell them 2,000 such pills not knowing they were law enforcement officers.
On September 5, Nava told the undercover officers a woman was enroute to an undisclosed area and when detectives surveilling Rita Nava saw her arrive, they contacted her, the report stated.
They found more than 200 grams of fentanyl-laced pills in the vehicle she shares with her son, the report stated.
Rita Nava on suspicion of manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance and her son was later arrested on the same charge.
Rita Nava said her son had instructed her to deliver the pills to someone in exchange for $5000.
Both Navas were booked into the Ector County jail and later released to another law enforcement agency.
