DUBLIN, CA — With Mother's Day around the corner, Patch reader Cathy Miller shared this moving tribute to her son, Aiden in response to our mom-and-kid photo callout:
We’re a military family living here in California for the last 2 years. We don’t have any family living close by, which makes all of this so much harder. Because of that, he is always playing catch-up, which makes me feel guilty every move.
Aiden was diagnosed last fall with stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This coming Friday May 15th is his last chemotherapy. His oncologist had to modify Aiden’s chemotherapy because of COVID-19. So we are hopeful the treatments will still leave him cancer free and he can go on with life as normal as a 21 year old can.
The best Mother’s Day present I can ask for is Aiden being healthy and the first step is the end of chemotherapy this coming week. We’ve moved more than any family should and with that comes a lack of a natural support system. So I wanted to get his story out there and maybe some positive vibes from some strong moms could help my son out. I know it wasn’t exactly what was asked in the Mother’s Day post, but as a mom I figured some other mom could relate right now.
