Monaca Community Hall of Fame to enshrine 3 new members

MONACA ― The Monaca Community Hall of Fame will enshrine its Class of 2023 on Oct. 22.

This 37th induction banquet begins at 6 p.m. at the Monaca Turners. Tickets cost $30 for adults, $15 for children, and can be purchased by calling 724-728-0248 or 724-774-7719. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The three inductees:

Dennis Gillin, 55, who has devoted his time to help burn survivors at West Penn Hospital’s Burn Unit. As a boy, he was seriously wounded in a fire, sustaining burns to 60 percent of his body, 30 percent of which were considered third degree, or full depth. Gillin and two other burn survivors co-founded a program known as Burn Concern, a support group for burn survivors, their family members, care providers to burn victims, and various volunteers. The purpose of this group, was again, to avoid any burn victim from going through the recovery process alone. Gillin also is known to rush to new patients that are hospitalized in the Burn Unit, to provide support immediately following their accidents. He currently resides in Aliquippa.
