Earlier this week, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques of Monaco made an appearance with their father, Prince Albert, as part of their country's the annual Sainte-Dévote celebrations. Their mother Princess Charlene was not with them, but a statement from the Palace, which was translated by People, explains that Charlene was unable to attend as she is continuing to recover from her ongoing health concerns. The "convalescence of H.S.H. Princess Charlene is currently continuing in a satisfying and very encouraging way," reads the translation, which also notes that her continued treatment "will still take several weeks."

"With her husband H.S.H. Prince Albert II, she shares her heart with all Monegasques and residents on the occasion of these celebrations. As soon as her health will allow, it will be with joy that the Princess once again share moments of conviviality with them," continued the statement. "During this period, the Royal Couple requests that their private life and that of their children continue to be respected."

Last year, Princess Charlene traveled to South Africa for what was expected to be a short trip, but it was unexpectedly extended due to health issues. Shortly after she returned to Monaco in November 2021, she entered a treatment facility.

Princess Charlene is suffering from "exhaustion, both emotional and physical," Prince Albert told People in November, specifying that her condition would require several weeks of care at a minimum. "She was clearly exhausted, physically and emotionally. She was overwhelmed and couldn't face official duties, life in general or even family life," he said at the time.

"Obviously there were consequences of her different surgeries and the procedures she underwent in the last few months," Albert continued in his statement to People. "That certainly was a factor, but at this point I prefer not to comment further. I can say she was suffering incredible fatigue. She hadn't slept well in a number of days and she wasn't eating at all well. She has lost a lot of weight, which made her vulnerable to other potential ailments. A cold or the flu or God help us, COVID."
