Monday afternoon single-vehicle crash claims 63-year-old Lehigh Acres man's life

A crash involving a pickup Monday afternoon in Lehigh Acres left one man dead.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the single-vehicle crash happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Homestead Road South, south of Sunrise Boulevard.

The Patrol said a 63-year-old Lehigh Acres man was driving south on Homestead, traveled off the roadway onto the right grass shoulder, and overturned.

The driver died at the scene. The crash investigation remains ongoing.

The death is at least the 52nd fatality on Lee County roads in 2022 according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.
