Ardrey Kell 10, Olympic 3: The visiting Knights took a big step toward clinched the regular-season title, running their conference record to 9-0 and opening a two-game lead on second-place Olympic (7-2). The teams have a rematch Friday evening at Ardrey Kell. The Knights also play Thursday at Southwestern 4A leader Butler.

Myers Park 7, South Mecklenburg 6: South Meck’s Cam Bagwell had a huge game, going 4-for-4, with two doubles, a home run and five RBI.

Providence Day 4, Charlotte Latin 0: Bo Ziegler was the story of this game, as the Chargers’ pitcher fired a complete-game four-hitter and logged a career-high 13 strikeouts.

Hickory Ridge 14, Cox Mill 12: This slugfest ended, naturally, with a home run. Bowen Powell slammed a walkoff two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh.

Mooresville 12, West Cabarrus 1: Blue Devils’ starter Noah Hildebran fired a four-hitter, and Luke Modrak doubled and tripled.

South Iredell 11, A.L. Brown 0: The Vikings’ Brice Warren homered and drove in three runs.

Cuthbertson 3, Sun Valley 2: Tristan Potts fired a complete-game victory.

North Gaston 3, Crest 1: Crest suffered its first loss in nine conference games but remained tied for the lead with Kings Mountain.

South Point 7, Kings Mountain 6: The Mountaineers scored three runs in the top of the seventh for a 6-5 lead, but South Point rallied in the bottom of the inning. It was the first loss in nine conference games for Kings Mountain, while South Point improved to 7-2.

Stuart Cramer 10, Ashbrook 4: Dylan Jennings had three hits for the Storm.

Lake Norman Charter 11, Concord 0: Winning pitcher Jacob Duldan threw a shutout in a game shortened to four innings by the 10-run rule. He struck out 10, and he doubled and drove in three runs at the plate.

Ardrey Kell 1, South Mecklenburg 0: The Knights (6-3 in conference) handed the Sabres their first loss in nine conference games. Savannah Campbell scattered seven hits for the victory, while losing pitcher Taylor Barlow struck out 11 and tossed a four-hitter. Ardrey Kell scored its run in the top of the first, as a Grace McKee sacrifice brought Emersyn Presutty home.

Berry 20, Olympic 1 (Game 1): Tianna Long and Kian Chisholm each had a double and two triples for Berry.

Berry 12, Olympic 1 (Game 2): Berry’s Makalia Murray had two hits and three RBI.

Myers Park 17, Palisades 5 (Game 2): This victory gave the Mustangs a 9-1 record, good for a half-game lead over second-place South Mecklenburg.

Charlotte Catholic 15, Garinger 0 (Game 1): Reagan Ryan tripled, homered and drove in three for the Cougars.

Cannon School 17, Charlotte Country Day 1: Cannon’s Emma Hartung drove in four runs, and Brie Biddle had three hits, three RBI and three runs scored.

Charlotte Christian 8, Providence Day 1: The Knights won behind Morgan Banks’ three-hitter. Banks struck out 16. Kaylin Garlick led the offense, going 4-for-4, with three doubles and six RBI.

Charlotte Latin 5, Covenant Day 4: Latin won it with two runs in the top of the seventh. Sydney Thune led the Hawks with two hits and two runs. Covenant Day’s Charlotte Hall drove in two.

Gaston Day 24, Spartanburg Day 12: Jason Johnson homered and drove in six runs for Gaston Day, and Brody Smith added two doubles.

Independence 15, West Charlotte 3: The Patriots’ Will Perry got the victory on the mound.

Mountain Island Charter 5, Piedmont Community Charter 1: The Raptors won behind two hits, two stolen bases and an RBI by Jack Ostendorf.

Covenant Day 4, Providence Day 2: The Lions, perhaps the area’s youngest varsity softball team, moved into a second-place tie with Charlotte Christian (each is 3-1), as Charlotte Hall drove in two runs. Covenant Day’s starting lineup features four seventh-graders and five freshmen.

East Mecklenburg 17, Berry Academy 3: Freshman Zya Dunlap doubled, homered and drove in four runs for the Eagles.

Monroe 30, Garinger 15: The Redhawks won their first game in at least 15 years, capturing this slugfest. Accurate records date back to 2008, and Monroe had not won a varsity softball game in that time – until Monday.

Sun Valley 23, Forest Hills 2: Twin sisters Georgia and Katie Beijan led the Spartans, with each collecting three hits and three RBI. Georgia Beijan had two triples.

Charlotte Country Day 8, Covenant Day 1: Covenant Day’s Hamilton Huitt beat Zach Lu in No. 1 singles, but the Buccaneers’ Aaryon Chopra took the No. 2 match, and the Bucs won five of six singles contests. Chopra teamed with Azod Bajwaj in taking No. 1 doubles.

Coaching opening
