On the one-year anniversary of clinching a playoff spot for the first time since 2002 — leading to their first playoff win since 1994 — the Browns will play their first game as a team eliminated from the 2021 postseason.

A Browns-Steelers showdown on "Monday Night Football" lost a lot of its meaning when Sunday's results left the Browns out of the playoff picture and the Steelers barely in it.

Still, it's Browns-Steelers, it's a ManningCast (with Aaron Rodgers among the guests), and Ben Roethlisberger is likely playing his final home game in a Pittsburgh uniform. Roethlisberger is 24-3-1 as a starter against the Browns, including a 15-10 win at Cleveland on Oct. 31. The Browns did win in their last trip to Pittsburgh, beating Roethlisberger and the Steelers 48-37 in an AFC wild card game last Jan. 10.

Here's how the game unfolded Monday night.

Browns vs. Steelers: Browns quick hits: Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger beats Cleveland one last time as Baker Mayfield struggles again

Najee Harris TD ices Steelers win

Najee Harris broke loose off right tackle on a third-and-2 to score on a 37-yard run with 51 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Steelers won 26-14.

Harris ran for 188 yards on 28 carries, the top performance of his rookie year. He pushed his season total to 1,172 yards — a Steelers rookie record, breaking a mark held by Hall of Famer Franco Harris (1,055 yards in 14 games in 1972).

Baker Mayfield's second TD pass pulls Browns within five

Baker Mayfield threw a 1-yard TD pass to tight end Harrison Bryant with 1:10 left in the fourth quarter, as the Browns cut their deficit to 19-14.

PIttsburgh, though, recovered the ensuing onside kick.

Mayfield finished the game 16-of-38 for 185 yards with two TDs and two interceptions. He was sacked nine times.

Roethlisberger was 24-of-46 for 123 yards with one TD and one interception. He was sacked twice.

Two more Chris Boswell field goals add to Steelers lead

The Steelers pushed their lead back to two scores thanks to two field goals by Chris Boswell in the fourth quarter. The Steelers led 16-7 with 9:46 left in the fourth after his 50-yarder. His 48-yarder with 5:48 left in the fourth pushed it to 19-7.

Boswell has four field goals Monday.

Baker Mayfield hits David Njoku with TD pass

The Browns cut into Pittsburgh's lead when Baker Mayfield threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end David Njoku with 56 seconds left in the third quarter. The Browns cut their deficit to 13-7.

Mayfield 39-yard completion to wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones keyed the drive. Mayfield threw a strike over the middle to Peoples-Jones, who then made a nice run after the catch down to the Steelers 9. Two runs by Nick Chubb put the Browns at the 3, setting up Mayfield's third-down TD pass.

The Steelers took their 13-7 lead into the fourth quarter.

Mayfield enters the fourth quarter 7-of-19 passing for 107 yards. He's been sacked five times and thrown an interception. Ben Roethlisberger is 24-of-43 for 123 yards, with two sacks and one interception. Each QB has a passer rating under 60.

Chris Boswell field goal increases Steelers lead

A 30-yard field goal by Chris Boswell to cap Pittsburgh's first drive of the second half pushed the Steelers lead to 13-0 with 8:20 left in the third quarter.

Pittsburgh drove 66 yards in 11 plays for the field goal.

Cleveland opened the second half with a quick three-and-out.

Baker Mayfield snaps season-long incompletion streak

The first half hit the two-minute warning with Browns QB Baker Mayfield snapping a string of 10 straight incomplete passes. He did it with a nice scramble (including a spin move) and 9-yard completion to Jarvis Landry on a third-and-8.

The 10 straight incompletions was the longest such streak in the NFL this season.

Mayfield completed a couple more passes to help drive the Browns into Steelers territory before T.J. Watt's second sack of the night led to a Cleveland punt in the final 40 seconds of the half.

Baker Mayfield throws interception, leads to Steelers field goal

Mayfield's first interception of the night led to the Steelers adding to their lead.

Rolling left on a first down from his own 26 following a Steelers punt, Mayfield threw an interception trying to hit Donovan Peoples-Jones near the left sideline. Ahkello Witherspoon intercepted the throw for the Steelers at Cleveland's 43 with 7:03 left in the half.

Four minutes later, the Steelers got a 22-yard field goal from Chris Boswell to increase their lead to 10-0 with 3:02 left.

Ben Roethlisberger TD pass gives Steelers the lead

Ben Roethlisberger threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Diontae Johnson to help give the Steelers a 7-0 lead with 10:39 left in the first half.

The score capped a 10-play, 66-yard drive by Pittsburgh. An unsportsmanlike penalty by Browns defensive end Jadeveon Clowney helped the Steelers convert a third-and-10. Pittsburgh scored three plays later.

The Browns followed with a quick three-and-out.

Browns-Steelers scoreless, as first quarter ends with T.J. Watt sack

After three possessions each, the Browns and Steelers remain scoreless at the end of the first quarter.

The quarter ended with T.J. Watt sacking Browns QB Baker Mayfield on a third-and-6.

Each team turned the ball over on downs in the other team's territory in the final 6 minutes of the quarter.

Tough first quarter for Browns tight end Austin Hooper

The Browns turned the ball over on downs after failing to convert a fourth-and-7 from the Pittsburgh 38 with 5:28 left in the first quarter. A 32-yard run by Nick Chubb helped put the Browns in Steelers territory.

A false start penalty, though, on tight end Austin Hooper prevented the Browns from having a chance to convert a third-and-2, leading to the failed fourth-and-7.

Hooper also dropped a pass on a third down to end the first offensive series by the Browns. If Hooper hung on to the ball, it appeared he would have picked up a first down.
