Monday night hoops: No. 5 O'Gorman defeats Aberdeen Central girls

Fifth-rated Class AA Sioux Falls O'Gorman recorded a 70-38 non-conference victory over Aberdeen Central in high school girls basketball on Monday.

The Knights improved to 12-4. They were led by Mahli Abdouch with 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals; Kira Mentele with 15 points; Lucy Moore with 10 points and Julia Eggert eight rebounds.

Taryn Hermansen notched 11 points and 10 rebounds for Aberdeen Central (6-8) visits Watertown on Tuesday. Lauryn Burckhard added six points and four blocked shots and Taryn Hettich four assists.

Other Girls Basketball

Sisseton 77, McLaughlin 37: Krista Langager collected 18 points, Hannah Leverson 13 points and nine assists, Tara Nelson 12 points and five steals, Emmalee Nielsen 11 points and four assists and Chloe Langager five rebounds for the Redmen (16-2). Mari Richards' 19 points and seven rebounds topped McLaughlin (4-14).

Wolsey-Wessington 81, Sully Buttes 81 (OT): Mallory Miller's 35 points and 10 rebounds helped No. 2 Class B Wolsey-Wessington (17-2) prevail. Leah Williams contributed 21 points, 10 assists and six steals; Mya Boomsma 14 points and Taylor Horn 10 points. The third-rated Class B Chargers (15-3) got 20 points from Allyson Wittler, 15 from Addison Chicoine and 13 each from Calleigh Chicoine and Lydia Hill.

Hitchcock-Tulare 55, Aberdeen Christian 26: Cambree Hoekman's 26 points , seven rebounds and six steals led Hitchcock-Tulare (7-12). Katelyn Schroeder added 16 points and Isabel Gilbert seven points and 10 rebounds. Chloe Bosma scored 11 points, Sophia Fogarty seven and Chloe Bosma six for Aberdeen Christian (1-18).

BOLD 59, Canby 23 (Minn.): Kortney Leppke's 11 points and five rebounds paced the Lancers in the loss. Braelyn Merritt hauled in eight rebounds.

Scores: Deubrook Area 45, Deuel 28; De Smet 66, Canistota 42; Miller 61, Potter County 41; Hillcrest Lutheran Academy 83, Ortonville 60 (Minn.); and Central Minnesota Christian 50, Dawson-Boyd 31 (Minn.). No details were reported.

Boys Basketball

Milbank 55, Estelline-Hendricks 42: An 18-point, 16-rebound performance by Jaxson Wildung carried the Bulldogs (10-5) to their fifth-straight win. Justus Osborn and Joe Schulte each added 10 points. Schulte also grabbed five rebounds. Joe McAninch had 18 points, Wyat James 11 points and Braxton Pravecek five rebounds for the Redhawks (10-7).

Deuel 60, Deubrook Area 42: The Cardinals (10-6) rolled with 17 points from Braydon Simon; 11 points and seven rebounds from Dravyn Carlson; 11 points, nine rebounds and five steals from Gavin Benck; eight points from Trey Maaland; and four assists from Ricky Berndt. Jake Jorenby scored 16 points and Gunnar Trooien seven for Deubrook Area (6-11), which also got eight rebounds from Colin Bauman.

Faulkton Area 65, Florence-Henry 57: Faulkton Area (8-10) used 29 points and 14 rebounds from Layne Cotton; 17 points, four assists and seven steals from Roman DiMaria and 11 points from Charlie Dieter to collect the win. Mehki Keller had 26 points and four assists, Ty Bergh 10 points and 12 rebounds, Peyton Roe eight points and 11 rebounds and Tegan Sumner eight points for the Falcons (8-9).

Colman-Egan 48, Iroquois-Lake Preston 43: Colman-Egan used a 17-8 scoring spurt in the fourth quarter to rally for the Dakota Valley Conference win. Jase Mousel tallied 17 points and Jackson Zwart 14 points and six rebounds for the Hawks (6-11). Logan Peskey's 16 points and 12 rebounds and Riley Casper's 11 and eight paced the Sharks (6-11). Josh McMasters chipped in with eight points and Tobias Arbeiter six rebounds.

Wakpala 75, North Central 50: Ashtyn Kills Small recorded 18 points, Lane Cadotte 17 and Wakiya Plenty Chief and Zach Moran each 14 for the Sioux (8-11). North Central (1-17) was led by Bastien Delalande's 16 points. Cooper Oxner and Cole Bukaske each contributed nine and Raynor Sprague eight.
