Monday Night Movies at Prescott Park

The Prescott Park Arts Festival presents Monday Night Movies each Monday at 8:30 p.m. in Prescott Park in Portsmouth. This week's movie is "Encanto." Bring a chair or a blanket. Movies are free but suggested donation is $10 and it can be made online at prescottpark.org.

Cochecho Arts Festival Children's Series kicks off

The Cochecho Arts Festival Children's Series kicks off in Dover with a visit from Wildlife Encounters at noon on Tuesday, July 12 at the Rotary Arts Pavilion in Henry Law Park. The series will run each Tuesday through Aug. 16 from noon to 1:30 p.m. each Tuesday. The Children's Series is free Visit dovernh.org/cochecho-arts-festival for more info.

Tuesdays on the Terrace

Enjoy the acoustic music of Ben Baldwin and Kent Allyn on Tuesday, July 12 at Strawbery Banke's Tuesdays on the Terrace concert series. Each Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m., local musicians perform and attendees can bring a picnic dinner or buy dinner and drinks at Strawbery Banke. Attendees can order a Picnic on the Banke in advance directly from the Puddle Dock Restaurant when purchasing tickets and pick up their order at the check-in table. Orders must be placed by 5 p.m. on the Sunday prior to each concert. Beverages, including beer and wine, are available during the concert. Alcoholic beverage may not be brought onto the property.

Bring lawn chairs or blankets as there are limited outdoor patio furniture and picnic tables. Concert tickets are $5 and available online until 5 p.m. on the day of the show at strawberybanke.org. Tickets may be available at the door for cash or checks only.

Join the Dover Public Library on Wednesday, July 13 at 6:30 p.m., in the Lecture Hall for “From Sails to Atoms: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.” In this popular lecture, learn about the role and achievements of the Yard in times of war and peace from a military historian's perspective. Shark in the Park series begins in Dover

The Cochecho Arts Festival's series of Shark in the Park concerts kicks off on Wednesday, July 13 with a performance by Francoix Simard at 6 p.m. at the Rotary Arts Pavilion in Henry Law Park. The Shark in the Park Series will run Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. through Aug. 10. The concerts are free. Cochecho Arts Festival buttons will be available at all events for $10 to support the festival.

Summer concert in Prescott Park

Watchhouse with Michaela Anne will perform Wednesday, July 13 at 7 p.m. in Prescott Park in Portsmouth. Suggested donation is $10 per person. For more information, visit prescottpark.org.

Historic MerryMac Regatta

The Great Bay Yacht Club of Dover has announced a historic MerryMac Regatta will be held on Saturday, July 16 at Hilton State Park, Dover. Over the years, GBYC has been working with local sailors to keep the spirit of the historic sailboat alive in the Great Bay area. Previous regattas have been held with much success. The regatta is also open to Oyster River Cats.

GBYC is located on Wentworth Terrace, Dover Point, a very short walk from Hilton Park. Registration officials will be at Hilton Park by 10 a.m. and the Skippers Meeting will be held there. The entry fee is $40 ($20 for skipper and crew under age 17) Register here: merrymac.brownpapertickets.com.

Seabreeze Quilt Guild to talk about making dresses for girls in developing countries

EXETER — Seabreeze Quilt Guild will meet Tuesday July 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the Senior Center, Court Street, Exeter. The speaker will be Jacqueline Dewey, Ambassador Southern Maine, for Dress a Girl Around the World.

Come join Seabreeze Quilt Guild for a presentation about making dresses for girls in developing countries. Learn how over 23,000 dresses sewn by neighbors in Maine and New Hampshire and distributed to girls in 30 different countries provides the girls with protection from exploitation. Patterns will be available for this simple dress to help needy girls around the world.

There will be a $5 guest fee at the door for non members. Door prizes and refreshments will be provided.
