Monday roundup: Northwest girls beat Hathaway Brown, Kate Bruce sets Walsh wins record

BERLIN — Ashley Cudnik scored 19 points and Lily Bottomley added 18 as Northwest outlasted Hathaway Brown 56-50 in double overtime Monday at Classic in the Country.

Northwest rallied from a 24-18 halftime deficit and outscored the Blazers 25-21 in the second half to force overtime. Head coach Kevin Lower's team held Hathaway Brown to no field goals and just three points in the third quarter.

Bottomley also grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds for Northwest (12-2). Gianna Kuhn added seven assists.

Jackson was a late withdraw from Classic in the Country because of the winter storm that impacted the area. The Polar Bears were slated to play Reynoldsburg.

BOYS BASKETBALL

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ACADEMY 80, JACKSON 48 Southern California Academy defeated the Polar Bears at the Flyin' To The Hoop Invitational in Dayton. No details were available.

WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

WALSH 77, URSULINE 69 Head coach Kate Bruce became Walsh's career wins leader in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference victory over Ursuline.

Mayci Sales and Sha Carter recorded double-doubles as Bruce won her 118th game. She is in her fifth season at Walsh.

Sales finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Carter scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Morgan McMillen added 14 points for Walsh (12-3, 7-2).
