Tuesday's District 3 updates: Gettysburg, Delone girls clinch return trips to title game
It wasn't March, but there was plenty of madness to go around.
Shippensburg needed three overtimes, but they were able to steal a semifinal game, 51-49, over West York on Monday to advance to the District 3 Class 5A Championship.
Jayden Statum led the way for the Greyhounds, finishing with 22 points, including the game-winning bucket, a turn-around mid-range jumper
Traevon Kater hit the game-tying 3-pointer in regulation to send the game to overtime.
Thursday/Friday results: Bermudian Springs girls upset Eastern York, plus scores
Flames still burning strong: New Covenant makes program history with first state berth
Mark Walker led the way for the Bulldogs, finishing with 17 points.
Shippensburg now moves to the title game, in which they will face undefeated Lampeter-Strasburg, who had to survive a 3OT game of their own against Hershey.

(3) Berks Catholic 49, (7) Bermudian Springs 46 (OT): The Eagles appeared on the verge of another upset when they took a two-point lead on a Lillian Peters bucket with 1:10 to play in regulation. But the Saints tied the game on two free throws and the Eagles couldn't get a good look at the buzzer.
Peters again put Bermudian up one with just over a minute left in overtime but Berk Catholic's Caraline Herb answered with a layup and Bermudian missed two 3-pointers down the stretch — down one on the first and down three on the final possession.
The Eagles thought they had a jump ball down one with 21 seconds left but a Berks timeout was granted and the Saints hit two free throws.
The Eagles led by three at halftime and six early in the fourth quarter but scored just two more points before overtime.
"(Berks) played harder than we did in the fourth quarter," Bermudian coach Todd Askins said. "We made a lot of mistakes tonight. We weren't setting great screens. If we want to get our shooters open we need to do that. We took a couple (3-pointers) when we only needed two. And they shut down our transition game."
Peters led Bermudian with 15 points while Bailey Oehmig had nine and Hannah Chenault had eight. Herb led Berks Catholic with 16.
(1) Delone Catholic 53, (5) Lancaster Catholic 41: After an evenly matched first half, Delone used stifling defense to hold Lancaster Catholic to just four points in the third quarter and punched its ticket to the title game.
MaKenna Mummert paced the offense with 17 points, and Giana Hoddinott was right behind with 16.
