Tuesday's high school results: CVCA's Darryn Peterson reaches milestone

It’s not surprising to find 1,000-point scorers in boys basketball this time of year.

It is when that milestone is reached by a sophomore, but that’s exactly what Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy’s Darryn Peterson did Tuesday in a 57-36 Principals Athletic Conference win over Northwest.

Peterson tallied 36 points in the win by the Royals (16-5, 12-0). That gives him 1,025 points in only 38 high school games, which equates to an 27.9 career average. He surpassed 1,000 points by scoring on a baseline drive with three minutes left in the second quarter.

CVCA sophomore Darryn Peterson (right) is congratulated by teammate Max Winslow after he scored his 1,000 career point, Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, against Northwest.
