MONEY MATTERS: Fundraising can make or break a presidential campaign — here’s how every 2020 Democrat is doing after the election's second major deadline

The second fundraising quarter of 2019 ended on June 30, and 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have reported their second major fundraising hauls.
The 21 major Democrats running for president are fiercely competing for donations in order to rise to the front of the race in one of the most crowded fields in recent history.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg led the pack with $24.8 million raised in Q2, followed by former VP Joe Biden with $21.5 million, Sen. Elizabeth Warren with $19.1 million, and Sen. Bernie Sanders with $18.2 million.
By comparison, President Donald Trump raised $54 million for his re-election campaign in 2019's second quarter with an additional $51 million raised for his campaign by the Republican National Committee.
The second fundraising quarter of 2019 ended on June 30, and most 2020 Democratic presidential candidates have reported how much they've brought in.
There are currently 21 major Democrats in the 2020 primary field — and they're fiercely competing for donations in order to rise to the front of the pack in one of the most crowded fields in recent history.
Almost all of the Democratic contenders have pledged to run grassroots campaigns, with many rejecting donations from corporate PACs, federal lobbyists, and fossil fuel companies. Sen. Elizabeth Warren even went as far as to completely swear off high-dollar private fundraisers altogether.

The Democratic National Committee raised the fundraising stakes even more by requiring 2020 Democrats to reach 2% in four national polls and secure 130,000 individual donations from donors in at least 20 states to qualify for the next round of Democratic primary debates in September and October.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg led the pack with $24.8 million raised in Q2, followed by former VP Joe Biden with $21.5 million, Sen. Elizabeth Warren with $19.1 million, and Sen. Bernie Sanders with $18.2 million.
Here are all the 2020 candidates who have announced their second-quarter fundraising, much they've raised, and how much cash they have in their campaign coffers:
Former Rep. John Delaney of Maryland raised $212,882 in 2019's second quarter, loaning and giving his campaign an additional $7.8 million of his own money. He has $7.4 million cash on hand.

Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio, who entered the race in early April, reported raising $890,000 in 2019's second quarter and has $335,000 cash-on-hand.

Pete Buttigieg, the 37 year-old former mayor of South, Bend Indiana, raised $7 million in 2019's first quarter and led the pack in the second quarter, bringing in $24.8 million from 294,000 donors. He has $22.7 million cash on hand.

In comparison to the Democrats' hauls, President Donald Trump's re-election campaign announced raising $105 million in 2019's second quarter, with Trump's campaign committee bringing in $54 million with an additional $51 million raised by the Republican National Committee. He has $56.7 million cash on hand.
