Monmouth Mall: Fights breakout at AMC theater during $4 movie ticket day

Police news

EATONTOWN - Fights broke out and two teens were arrested Sunday at the Monmouth Mall movie theater, after a promotional event brought crowds of kids to the venue, according to police.

Two teens, ages 14 and 15, were arrested for defiant trespass, police said, after being told to leave the theater several times and not doing so.

Around 7:42 p.m., several fights involving juveniles broke out at the AMC theater, according to Eatontown police. Mutual aid was called for and several neighboring towns sent officers to help with crowds, police said. The unusually large group of juveniles flocked to the theater amid its $4 ticket promotion for National Cinema Day.

A manager at the theater declined to comment, stating that all media inquiries must go through the AMC corporate office.

AMC corporate was not immediately available for comment.
