Monopoly just released a Boise edition. Here’s which local landmarks made the game board
Have you ever fancied yourself being the sole owner of some of Idaho’s most famous landmarks and institutions? Perhaps you’ve wanted to be the sole proprietor of Cactus Bar or claim the Boise River Greenbelt as your own.
These wild dreams aren’t as distant as you think … kind of.
Last week at a Beside Bardenay event in the Basque Block, Top Trumps USA and local city officials announced the official release of MONOPOLY: Boise Edition.
“I’m not from here, but I spent quite a few days and weeks visiting here and learning about your city,” Top Trumps representative Aaron Green said during the launch. “I actually presented it to Hasbro and said, ‘Boise, Idaho needs their own unique edition.’ And somehow, they believed me, and it worked out.”
Many of Boise’s major landmarks are featured on the board, such as the Capitol Building and Table Rock. Boise residents submitted suggestions to Top Trumps USA back in February when the game was announced — local companies could also pay to have their business featured in the game.
All in all, 30 Boise icons and establishments were featured.
“There are great worthy organizations and businesses and landmarks that didn’t make the board,” Green said.
Bobbi-Jo Meuleman, the newly appointed CEO of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, commended the board game as evidence of what Boise is as a city and how it continues to grow.
“What a great community that we have,” Meuleman said. “We have awesome businesses, we have great restaurants, we have great outdoor recreation, it really is a cool city, and there’s a reason that Boise got picked.”
Want to grab one of the games for a loved one ahead of the holiday season? Monopoly: Boise Edition can be purchased at local and online retailers, including CVS, Top Trumps and Amazon, for $44.99.
