Monroe County makes $1M investment for workforce development led by the Ibero-American Action League

A $1 million Monroe County investment will go to helping the Ibero-American Action League's efforts to build the local workforce.

On Monday, March 13, the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency, known as COMIDA, announced the partnership at the Ibero-American Action League in Rochester. The effort is stated to align with COMIDA's modernization initiative.

"Workforce development is key to our community's recovery and growth," said County Executive Adam Bello, according to a news release.

Through the Ibero-American Action League's Workforce and Entrepreneurial Connections Program, the four-year investment would help enhance workforce development in the local community, according to the announcement.

The funding will help support Ibero's three areas of focus:

  • Job training and direct job placement

  • Training and apprenticeships for community healthcare workers

  • Training and support services for Minority and Women-owned businesses (MWBEs)

The Workforce and Entrepreneurial Connections Program is housed in Ibero's Community Resource Center at 216 Clifford Ave., which is across from Conkey Corner Park, in Rochester. It provides services like case management, job readiness, technical assistance and employment placement.

"By helping Ibero build capacity to implement sustainable workforce development programs, COMIDA's investment will help prepare Latino workers and small business owners for the opportunities of today and the future," Ibero's President and CEO Angelica Perez-Delgado said, according to a news release.
