Monroe County primary election: Your quick guide to key 2022 races

Other than the party nominations for the roles of governor and lieutenant governor of New York, local interest will focus on four Democratic candidates competing for two positions on Rochester City Court.

Gary Craig reported, "Amid a significant uptick in violence and questions about the success of recent criminal justice reforms, city Democrats are prepared to select two judicial candidates who will be on the front lines."

Other primaries include those for the Republican endorsement for a one-year term on Parma Town Council and party runoffs for positions as a Fairport Village Trustee.

Then there's a lengthy roster of 89 Democratic candidates vying for 56 positions on the various County Committees for the 22nd, 23rd and 27th Legislative Districts and 24 Democratic candidates for 16 positions on four County Committees in the Town of Brighton.

Successful candidates advance to the ballot for the November 8 General Election.
