Monroe County school announcements for Feb. 24

The following school announcements for the Monroe County region, are for Friday, Feb. 24. This is the result of lingering property damage and power outages from the ice storm this week, which includes the school buildings in many neighborhoods.

Many of these schools were closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Our school closing list is based on announcements from the official website and social media; and emails to the newsroom from school officials. Please check your school email or social media for updates on sports and after-school activities.

Delay

Dundee Community Schools will be on a 2-hr delayed schedule.

Closed

Airport Community Schools are closed.

Flat Rock schools are closed.

Gibraltar schools are closed.

Holy Ghost School in Monroe will be closed due to continued power outages at the school and in the area. Status of the Friday night Lenten fish dinner to be announced later.

Huron New Boston schools are closed.

Ida Public Schools are closed.

Milan Area Schools are closed.

Monroe Public Schools, Parochial, Rainbow Preschool, and Kids Club are closed "due to continuing power outages."

St. Mary Catholic Central is closed. The school building will be open from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. if students need to pick up any materials for the weekend.

Summerfield schools are closed.

Woodhaven-Brownstown School District reports Gudith Elementary and Brownstown Middle School will be closed due to continued power outages. Other district school buildings are open.

Open

Bedford Public Schools are open. "Bedford schools all have power and are ready," superintendent Dr. Carl Shultz said in his announcement.

Woodhaven-Brownstown reports most of its school buildings are open, although Gudith Elementary and Brownstown Middle School are closed.
