MONROE TOWNSHIP – A 19-year-old man was lured to a mobile home park in Monroe Township where he was severely beaten by two others while the assault was recorded by a teenaged girl, then posted to social media.

The incident occurred around 5:40 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Heatherwood Trail and Wildhaven Drive in the Oakridge Estates Mobile Home Community off Dunbar Road.

Lt. Stephen Borello of the Michigan State Police, Monroe Post, reported that two young men and the teenaged girl, 15, somehow lured the victim, a Monroe resident, to the area. Once in the vicinity, the victim was badly beaten while the girl recorded the assault, troopers said.

Borello said felony charges of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder were sought due to the severity of the beating. He said it did not appear as though the two assailants used a weapon.

Troopers were called to the scene and discovered the 19-year-old male victim suffering from several injuries to his face, head and arms. He was transported and treated at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital.

The assault was then posted on SnapChat. During the attempt to locate the three assailants, troopers responded to an address in Oakridge Estates. Troopers observed one of the assailants through an open window engaged in sexual intercourse with the underage juvenile female.

That adult was identified as Cameron Lambert, 20, of Monroe. He was arraigned today before First District Judge Michael C. Brown on three counts of third-degree criminal sexual assault and one count each of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault and battery. The judge set bond at $100,000 on the sexual assault charges and $10,000 on the assault charges. Neither was posted and Lambert was remanded to the Monroe County Jail.

The second assailant was identified as Xander S. Edmondson, 19, of Monroe. He was arraigned before Brown on one count each of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault and battery. His bond was set at $10,000. He, too, was remanded to the county jail after failing to post bond. The felony assault charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. The Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office authorized the charges today.

The probable cause hearing was set for 9:30 a.m. June 1 with the preliminary examination set for 1:30 p.m. June 8. The case is to remain in Judge Brown’s court.

The teenaged girl was released to the custody of her mother. She is expected to face charges as a juvenile in Monroe County Probate Court.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Trooper Anthony Nyberg of the Monroe Post at (734) 242-3500.
