Police: Man, 2 teens facing charges after 19-year-old found dead at Monroe park

A man and two teens are facing charges after a 19-year-old was found fatally shot at Dickerson Park in Monroe on July 31, police said.

According to a post on the Monroe Police Department’s Facebook page, officers were called to Dickerson Park around 7:43 a.m. and found the victim, Yusuff Haamid-Sumpter.

After investigating, authorities obtained warrants on Mekhi Barrino-Straing for first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit a felony.

On Thursday, he turned himself in to the Monroe Police Department. He is being held with no bond.

Police said two additional teenage suspects are facing charges for first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit a felony. Authorities are waiting for secured custody orders to be granted to take them into custody due to the Raise the Age law.
