The Monroe Public Schools Board of Education is accepting applications to fulfill the remaining term of former trustee Pastor Heather Boone, who resigned last week.

The district issued a notice Thursday inviting registered voters residing within the district to apply to fill the temporary appointment, which expires November 2024. The appointee can then choose to run for one of the elected positions that will be available.

Applicants are asked to submit a letter of interest, with reasons seeking appointment, and a biography and/or resume to either young@monroe.k12.mi.us or the Office of the Board of Education, c/o Monroe Public Schools, 1275 N. Macomb St., Monroe, Michigan, 48162.

Letters must be received by 4 p.m. on August 3.

Any questions can be directed to the superintendent's office at 734-265-3000.
