Monroe, SMCC, Huron, Milan schools have homecoming this week

Four Monroe County high schools are celebrating homecomings this week. Monroe, St. Mary Catholic Central, Milan and Huron high schools will play homecoming football games Friday.

Monroe High School

MHS will play its homecoming football game against Ann Arbor’s Pioneer High School at 7 p.m. Friday at MHS.

The homecoming court will be crowned at half-time.

Homecoming queen candidates are Katelyn Boss, Presley Bray, Neveah Hall, Abella Hellenberg, Molly Meier, Emma Middleton, Karlee Smithers and Celena Tamayo.

Homecoming king candidates are Eli Gibson, Logan Loveland, Ethan Merkle, Brandon Miller, Adam Nabozny, Lucis Rzepa, Gabe Stamper and Talen Swinkey.

The homecoming dance will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at MHS.

The Power Puff football game will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bunkleman Field. A pep assembly is set for Friday.

The parade will begin at 5 p.m. Friday at Monroe Middle School on Washington Street. It will end at Monroe Council 1266, Knights of Columbus hall, Front Street. All roadways will be closed. There is no posted detour.

This week is spirit week. Days and dress themes are: today, Monochromatic; Tuesday, Pink Out; Wednesday, Western; Thursday, Hawaiian; Friday, Class Colors (green for freshmen, blue for sophomores, black for juniors and red for seniors).

St. Mary Catholic Central High School

The SMCC football team will play Riverview High School at 7 p.m. Friday at SMCC.

The homecoming queen will be announced at halftime. Candidates and their escorts are: Macy Carlton and Jaden Paquette, Claire Leach and Evan Marcon, Hannah Borer and Chase Terrasi, Ana Cuccia and Eric Mathies, and Leah DeSarbo and Lawrence (Buddy) Snodgrass.

The homecoming dance will be Saturday at SMCC.

This year's theme is "Let the Games Begin."

Daily dress themes are: today, Monopoly Money Monday; Tuesday, The Game of Life; Wednesday, Guess Who?; Thursday, Game Night; Friday, Class Colors (yellow for freshmen, red for sophomores, green for juniors and blue for seniors).

A queen's court candidate sashing event will take place Monday. The powder puff game will be Tuesday. A homecoming liturgy and pep assembly are scheduled for Friday.

The homecoming parade will take place at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Students from St. Patrick, St. Charles and St. Joseph (Erie) schools will participate. The route will proceed east on Willow, south on Monroe Street, east on Fifth Street, south on Washington Street and east on Jones Avenue to Navarre Field. All roadways will be closed. There is no posted detour.

Milan High School

Milan High School will play its homecoming football game against Flat Rock High School at 7 p.m. Friday at MHS.

The homecoming king and queen will be announced at halftime. On the homecoming courts are: seniors Claire Baker, Allyson Jones, Gwen Jones, Courtney Nye, Bralyn Campbell, Ralph Giasi, Evan Miller and Gavin Tomecek; juniors Jaiden Hannah and Noah Allen; sophomores Alivia Held and Keegan Bates; and freshmen Alivia Gregorio and Christopher Keene.

The homecoming dance will be held Saturday at the high school. "Masquerade" is this year's theme.

Spirit week is this week. A pep assembly and food truck rally is set for Friday. The homecoming parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. Friday.

Huron High School

This week is spirit week at HHS.

Days and dress themes are: today, Get Up and Go; Tuesday, Jersey Day; Wednesday, Barbie vs. Oppenheimer Day; Thursday, Country vs. Country Club Day; Friday, Spirit Day (wear red and white).

The king and queen assembly, pep rally and parade will take place Friday.

The HHS football team will play Airport High School at 7 p.m. at HHS. Tickets are $5 at the gate. The homecoming royalty will be crowned at halftime. Spirit week winners also will be announced at halftime, and a trophy will be awarded.

The homecoming dance is Saturday. "Pixar Movies" is the theme.

Because of Monroe High School and SMCC's parades on Friday in downtown Monroe, several roadways will be closed.
