RAISINVILLE TOWNSHIP -- A woman was seriously injured when she became trapped after an off-road vehicle overturned on private property Sunday morning.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Brenda Kidd, 62, of Monroe. She was transported to ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital and then flown to ProMedica Toledo Hospital in where she is listed in critical condition.

Deputies reported the accident occurred in the 1600 block of Sheick Road in Raisinville Township shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday.

Preliminary investigation showed that Michael Kidd, 63, of Monroe was operating a red 2014 Polaris Ranger RZR westbound in a private field, west of Sheick Road. While in motion, Kidd drove onto an embankment, which forced the Polaris to overturn onto its passenger side.

Mr. Kidd’s wife, Brenda, was a front seat passenger. Mrs. Kidd fell from the Polaris and became trapped underneath the vehicle. Mr. and Mrs. Kidd were not wearing safety belts at the time of the crash, deputies said, adding that alcohol and speed do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash.

Assisting at the scene were members of the London-Maybee-Raisinville Volunteer Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance. The crash remains under investigation by Deputies Nicholas Burkhart and Cody Carena of the Sheriff's Office Traffic Services Division along with Sgt. Brian Sroka and Deputies Timothy George, James Yuchuck and Brandon Benes of the Uniformed Services Division.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Sheriff's Office Traffic Services Division at (734) 240-7560 or (734) 240-7557.
