Monroeville duo earn All-Ohio honors

Nov. 7—Two Monroeville standouts were named to the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Ohio teams in Division IV.

The OHSVCA released the teams on Sunday.

The District 6 Player of the Year, Daniel was selected to the first team, while her classmate, Lilly White, was named to the third team.

A senior hitter, Daniel has 528 kills so far this season for the Eagles (23-4), who play in a state semifinal on Thursday vs. Newark Catholic (25-3).

Daniel also has 428 digs this season and has 32 blocks while serving for 158 points with 48 aces. She has 1,224 kills entering Thursday's match.

A senior libero, White has a program record 679 digs this season and 1,352 for her career. White has served 289 points with 52 aces, and adds 90 assists.

Of note to the area, Kirtland head coach Arlayna Newcomer earned a Coaches Achievement award. A 2013 St. Paul graduate, Newcomer has coached the Hornets to an 81-15 record in four seasons with a pair of district championships.
