Monsoon Thunderstorm Hits Southern California

Severe thunderstorms moved across southern California on June 22 in the first monsoonal surge of the season, according to the National Weather Service.

The storms, caused by monsoonal moisture, brought thunder, rain, lightning, wind gusts of 50 mph, and pea-sized hail to the region, the NWS said in a special weather statement.
