Montclair house designed by famous architect Edward Durell Stone up for sale

A Montclair house designed by Edward Durell Stone, the architect behind the Museum of Modern Art and the Kennedy Center, has hit the market and has already drawn a lot of attention.

The midcentury modern home, built in 1959, is located on Upper Mountain Avenue and was featured on the popular Instagram account Zillow Gone Wild, on a post that received over 42,000 likes. The listed price on Zillow is $949,000 but real estate agent Amy Owens thinks it will go for more than that.

"If you know Montclair real estate, you know that things usually go exponentially higher than the listing price," Owens said. "But we feel like we listed it fairly."

The house officially went on the market Thursday and offers started Tuesday. The owners have lived there since 1968, Owens said.

The over 2,200-square-foot house has four bedrooms and three bathrooms and features floor to ceiling windows. The listing also boasts views of the New York City skyline and a two-car garage.

"I think this house is special," Owens said. "It's what a lot of people in this area really love."

Stone was a well-known architect who designed multiple iconic buildings around the world. In addition to the MoMA and the Kennedy Center, Stone designed Radio City Music Hall, the United States Embassy in India and the Museo de Arte de Ponce in Puerto Rico.
