De Monte named Alliance's preschool principal

ALLIANCE − Adam De Monte has been named principal of Alliance City Schools' preschool program.

The Board of Education approved the hiring of De Monte on Tuesday night.

De Monte will run the preschool program at its new location, Parkway Learning and Development Center, beginning in the fall. Earlier this month, district officials announced moving preschool classes there from the Alliance Early Learning School.

According to the district, De Monte joined the Alliance City Schools in 2013 as a preschool teacher. He has served the past two years as an assistant principal and preschool coordinator.

"Moving into our own building will give us opportunities that were not possible before," De Monte said in a news release. "We plan to use the added space to expand our indoor and outdoor learning environment, increase our family engagement events and strength partnerships. ..."

In other business, board members:

• Approved a demolition agreement with the City of Alliance to demolish North Lincoln School.

• Approved an out-of-state and overnight field trip for the Alliance High School Academic Challenge team to travel and participate in the Academic Challenge National Tournament from June 2-4 in Chicago.

• Approved part-time employment of Jared Viancourt as a sports announcer at Spectrum Channel 1022.

• Accepted donations from Michael Pozonits and the Alliance Lions Club.
