FAIRHAVEN — He’s not just the originator of the “Inspire by Montel” line of vape products, talk show legend Montel Williams speaks from experience because he uses them himself.

Williams will return to the Bask cannabis dispensary at 2 Pequod Road in Fairhaven from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, for an event that is open to people age 21 and older. He will introduce his line and preview new releases on what will be a return visit.

“I know what they do for me, so I just want to offer those up to the public,” he said. “I’m not just experiencing something for myself, but I can help other people to maybe have the same kind of effect.”

The background: Here's why Montel Williams has teamed up with Taunton's Freshly Baked

Williams offers a THC line of vape carts and a vapeable, edible, dabbable and smokable oil that is specially configured and explains what sets it apart. One of the vapes is specifically formulated for energy that delivers on the euphoria but not the anxiety.

“I’m the only person in the country that’s formulating this particular type of formulation where I’m using both CBD and THC and particular terpenes in a formulation of vape carts that elicits three different types of responses based on that configuration,” he said.

He said he hears that most of the people who try his product say it elicits the response that’s written on the box and is pleased to hear what repeat customers have to say during appearances at various dispensaries.

In the next 20 days he will introduce a new vape pen into the market, and in November the plan is to release a pre-ground flower product. He said by selling pre-ground products in resealable packaging, it can make the experience with cannabis easier for consumers.

“We’re providing a lot of new and innovative products in the Massachusetts market and people have been responding to it very well,” he said.

The Freshly Baked Company in Taunton manufactures his line of CBD/THC vapes that come in three different varieties. He said they intend to continue to produce new and innovative delivery systems for customers in Massachusetts and other states going forward.

Bask Director JoAnne Leppanen said when his team reached out about making a return visit, they jumped at the opportunity to have him back.

“He was so generous with his time, knowledge and support to every individual who talked with him, and he talked to everyone,” she said. “He has a great line of products, and it was a joy to hear him talk about them.”

She said it’s particularly meaningful to have him at their dispensary due to his work advocating for medical cannabis and cannabis reform. Bask opened in 2018 as a medical dispensary but now sells medical use and adult-use products.

“It’s always exciting to meet a celebrity, but Montel is more than a celebrity,” she said. “He has been advocating for the people we serve for over 20 years. He has taken real chances in life and to advocate for cannabis years ago was brave. It’s an honor to have him here.”

Williams has been using cannabis since he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1999. He said he has been working at his health continuously for almost 22 years.

“I have tried to continue to thrive to it rather than to succumb to it and have been able to do that,” he said.

Williams said he enjoyed his years as host of “The Montel Williams Show” for 17 years for the opportunity to interact with people, and that hasn’t changed. In fact, he’s currently the host of three shows on Lifetime that allow him to offer community support.

In the next week, the veteran of both the Marine Corps and the Navy will be filming a new episode of “Military Makeover with Montel” for Lifetime. He also hosts “Military Makeover: Operation Career” featuring businesses that hire and reach out to support veterans and “The Balancing Act.”
